The house located in the Naul, Co Dublin was a renovation/extension project. The homeowners requested a heat pump solution to replace their existing LPG boiler and cylinder. The house being approximately 400m2 with a heat load of 20kW at -3degC outside. For added comfort and control of their new heating system the house was separated into 3 separate heating zones. The renovation and improvements to the fabric/building elements in the house has now made installing a heat pump possible. The homeowner was growing tired of having to refill their LPG tank 2/3 times a year and desired a more comfortable, economical and environmentally friendly heating system.

In order to satisfy the heat load of the property we specified a Vitocal 200-A 16kW and a Vitocal 200-A 8kW monobloc heat pumps in a lead/lag formation. As their was a large DHW demand a Vitocell 300-B 500l twin coil cylinder was installed. Also used was a Vitocell 100-E 400l buffer to allow for full zone control, sufficient defrosting of the evaporator and to prevent cycling. To have full control over 3 separate heating circuits Viessmann Divicon pumping stations were used along with 3 No. Vitotrol 200-A room stats.

Precision Heating provided the installer with a full system design schematic incorpating the existing system. We also commissioned the installation and delivered a handover to the homeowner to run through the new controls strategy.
